New movers, voters who changed names or addresses, and anyone still carrying an old party designation have one short window in Claremont to fix their registration before New Hampshire’s September 8 State Primary Election.

The City of Claremont said the Supervisors of the Checklist will meet Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall. The session is for registering new voters and making corrections to the voter checklist, the basic step that determines whether a resident is ready to cast a ballot.

That same June 2 session is also the last day to change party affiliation for the State Primary Election. After that deadline, voters who want to move between parties will be locked in for the September 8 primary, which makes the checklist meeting especially important for unaffiliated voters and anyone deciding which primary contest they want to take part in.

New Hampshire Secretary of State David M. Scanlan issued a statewide reminder on April 16 that June 2 is the deadline to change party affiliation before the primary. State guidance says voters may change affiliation with the clerk of the town or city where they are domiciled, or at any scheduled meeting of the Supervisors of the Checklist, except during the filing period and the stretch between the filing period and the primary itself.

Claremont’s voter-registration information says checklist meeting details are posted in the newspaper before each session. It also says residents can register in person at the Claremont City Clerk’s Office, 58 Opera House Square, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., up to 10 days before an election. State guidance also says in-person voter registration can happen up to 6 to 13 days before an election at a local clerk’s office or a scheduled checklist meeting.

The timing matters beyond the primary itself. The filing period for the 2026 New Hampshire state election runs from June 3 to June 12, one day after Claremont’s party-change deadline. For anyone whose eligibility, party status or checklist information is not up to date, the June 2 session is the last clear chance to handle it before the summer election calendar moves ahead.
