Claremont families with young children have a free opportunity coming up this spring: SAU #6 will hold a Child Find developmental screening on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Claremont Preschool special education room inside Disnard School at 160 Hanover St.

The screening is open to children between the ages of two years, six months and five years old who reside in Claremont, though at least one district-affiliated notice listed the eligible range as ages 3 to 5. Families with any concerns about a child's development are encouraged to call Disnard School at (603) 543-4260 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment, or reach out by email at ksanford@sau6.org.

Each appointment runs 30 minutes. Parents or caregivers must be present for the full screening and will be asked to complete a questionnaire. The screenings will be conducted by a team of certified professionals: a Special Educator, a Speech Pathologist, and an Occupational Therapist.

The screening covers four developmental domains: Speech and Language, Motor Skills, Early Learning, and Social-Emotional Development. The goal is to identify potential delays early, so that families can access interventions sooner. Participation also helps connect families with community supports and provides context around developmental milestones.

SAU #6, which serves Claremont and Unity, posted the community announcement on March 24. The Child Find screening is one of several family-facing programs the district has promoted in recent weeks. Just days before the announcement, Stevens High School hosted the "All Slay. No Pay. Free Prom Attire Event," offering students from any school free gowns, some brand new, along with shoes, jewelry, and menswear. Day 2 of that event ran March 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with try-ons allowed on-site.

For the April 13 screening, appointments can be made by calling (603) 543-4260 or emailing ksanford@sau6.org during school hours.
