Sunapee Police to Host NH Boater Certification Courses This Spring, Summer

The Sunapee Police Department will host New Hampshire boater-education classroom courses at Sunapee Safety Services this spring and summer, working alongside the New Hampshire Marine Patrol in an arrangement that places both the instruction and the state certification exam under the same roof in a single day.

The full-day sessions cover boat navigation, required safety equipment, invasive aquatic-species awareness, and New Hampshire boating laws and regulations, delivered through a mix of lectures, videos and interactive discussion. During the final hour, a Marine Patrol-proctored exam gives participants the opportunity to earn their state certification on the spot.

Seats are limited, and the department noted that instructor-led sessions commonly fill, making early registration the practical move for anyone planning to be on the water this summer. Local law enforcement staff will coordinate logistics with Marine Patrol for each session. The department published the announcement March 24, ahead of peak spring boating activity on Lake Sunapee.
