The Founders Place Community Benefit Foundation, a nonprofit tied to a private luxury development in the Deer Crest Neighborhood at Deer Valley, has directed $1.43 million to Park City Municipal Corporation's Affordable Housing Fund, with a standing pledge to keep the contributions flowing for nearly two more decades.

The money flows from a 0.5% benefit assessment levied on real estate sales within Founders Place, a mechanism the Foundation built into the development when it was established in 2022. According to the Park Record, the Foundation has committed to directing 50% of all benefit fee revenue to the city's affordable housing fund through 2040, a commitment that ties the scale of future contributions directly to sales volume at the development.

The Foundation's own language frames the initial allocation as the starting point of a longer mission. "Initially, the Foundation's funding will be allocated to Park City Municipal Corporation's Affordable Housing Fund, which the City will use to benefit affordable housing projects and programs within the community," the Foundation's website states. It describes its support for City-directed initiatives as continuing "through the end of 2040."

Beyond housing, the Foundation says it will "operate exclusively to support a wide array of organizations, projects, and programs addressing the critical challenges within the Park City community" through the same half-percent assessment revenue. Board members listed on the Foundation's site are Carder Lamb, Bill Fiveash, and Jay Lambiotte. Sales at the development are handled by Matthew Magnotta and Carsyn Lamb, exclusive listing agents for Christie's International Real Estate, reachable at 435-602-0904.

Park City's affordable housing shortage has made news for years as rising property values push long-term residents and workforce employees out of the market. Whether the city has identified specific projects or programs for this $1.43 million tranche has not been disclosed publicly. The Foundation's site describes its support as "partial," and sources do not specify how the remaining portion of benefit fee revenue is allocated, leaving open questions about the full scope of the development's community benefit structure.

The announcement, first reported March 19, also comes as Founders Place markets what it calls "the final opportunity to own" within the development, a unit called The Otto at Founders Place, situated within one of the Wasatch Back's most exclusive enclaves.
