South Summit Wildcats Beat North Summit 17-12, End Nine-Game Road Skid
South Summit snapped a nine-game road losing streak Tuesday, routing rival North Summit 17-12 in a 29-run slugfest that pushed the Wildcats to 2-6.

South Summit's varsity baseball team ended a nine-game road losing streak that stretched back to last season, beating the North Summit Braves 17-12 on Tuesday at North Summit's field. The five-run margin was no accident: it marked the second consecutive South Summit victory by exactly that spread, following an 8-3 win over North Sevier on March 14.
The Wildcats improved to 2-6 on the season with the win, a record that tells only part of the story given how badly they had struggled away from home before Tuesday. North Summit dropped to 3-4 and has now lost two straight.
Despite the final score, the Braves generated plenty of offense in a combined 29-run affair. Max Shaw reached base in three of his four plate appearances, scored three runs, stole a base, and hit a double. Kestin Richins was even more productive at the plate, reaching base in four of his five trips to the box while scoring twice, doubling, and driving in a run. Cael Crittenden went 1-for-4 but made his hit count, finishing with two RBI and a run scored.
South Summit's five-game recent log illustrates just how streaky the early season has been. The Wildcats were shut out in back-to-back games on March 13, losing 10-0 to Delta and 8-0 at South Sevier, before splitting two games on March 14 and then rolling over North Summit three days later.
South Summit was scheduled to travel to face Judge Memorial Catholic at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. North Summit's next game was set for 3:30 p.m. Friday against Millard.
