Stolen lift tickets at Deer Valley; multiple DUI arrests in Summit County
Deer Valley reported a surge in stolen lift tickets and voucher fraud, while Summit County officers made multiple DUI arrests, raising concerns about resort security and road safety.

Deer Valley Resort reported a surge in stolen lift tickets and a ticket-office worker said employee vouchers were being used by multiple individuals, while Summit County law enforcement logged several DUI and related arrests during a recent enforcement window. The incidents, recorded in local police logs, underline rising theft and public-safety pressures during peak winter activity in Snyderville Basin and Park City.
A police-log entry states: “A caller at Deer Valley Resort reported a surge in stolen lift tickets potentially connected to an employee terminated for theft on January 26.” Two days later, staff at a Deer Valley Drive ticket office “reported stolen employee vouchers being used by multiple individuals and requested an officer respond.” Those entries appear in a Feb. 10 compilation of local police activity covering incidents from Feb. 2 to Feb. 8. The logs also note other recurring neighborhood reports, including a motorhome observed near Rossi Hill Trailhead and quality-of-life complaints on Kearns Boulevard.
Separately, Park City Police Department investigators say they tied multiple ski-gear thefts together and arrested a 22-year-old suspect after reviewing resort security camera footage and ticket-scanner records. Authorities reported the investigation traced four additional incidents at Deer Valley back to April 2024, and that recovered property has been returned to owners. Park City Police Department posted: “After months of diligent work, our Investigations team successfully tied together multiple ski-gear thefts from the past year, leading to the arrest of the suspect responsible. The owners of the gear have been notified of the recovered property. We want to commend our investigators for their relentless efforts, and thank the Deer Valley Security team, for bringing this case to a close. As always, we remain committed to keeping our community safe!”
The available records do not explicitly link the early-February lift-ticket and voucher reports to the later ski-gear arrest and apartment search that led to a March booking at the Summit County Jail. Local reporting indicates investigators used camera and scanner evidence, staked out a suspect’s apartment near Brigham Young University, and found multiple pairs of skis matching stolen descriptions, but police have not stated whether the voucher thefts and employee termination from late January are part of the same probe.

Traffic-enforcement entries in the Feb. police log document multiple stops that led to arrests. One I-80 stop near mile marker 145 described a restricted operator who “had consumed alcohol. The driver was taken into custody and the vehicle was state tax impounded.” Another traffic stop uncovered marijuana and paraphernalia and resulted in an arrest after officers found the driver had multiple active warrants. Officers also responded to a hazardous driving incident when a vehicle was reversing in the travel lane on Deer Valley Drive near Main Street.
For residents and visitors, the incidents signal two clear concerns: property thefts that exploit resort ticketing systems and ongoing impaired-driving risks on resort-area roads. Resort security practices, employee oversight and interagency coordination between Park City Police Department and neighboring jurisdictions are likely to shape whether theft trends ease. Local law enforcement and Deer Valley Security are the next steps to watch for updates on charges, recovered property and any operational changes to protect guests, staff and motorists.
