Deputies in the Snyderville Basin pulled over a vehicle for an equipment violation and ended up booking the driver into Summit County Jail on a suspected DUI, according to a Summit County Sheriff's Office shift report published March 17, 2026.

The stop began as routine traffic enforcement after deputies observed an equipment violation. Once they made contact with the driver, however, suspicion of intoxication prompted field sobriety testing. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail on a suspected DUI charge.

The DUI arrest was one of several incidents the Sheriff's Office logged during the week of March 9 through March 15. A second Snyderville Basin stop during that same period involved a speeding vehicle whose driver reportedly smelled of alcohol. That driver also performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested for a suspected DUI.

Other calls during the week included a pair of incidents in Kimball Junction on Monday, March 9. Deputies responded to a vehicle burglary at a Kimball Junction hotel, where the truck's owner told investigators he had left his vehicle unlocked and discovered approximately $800 in tools stolen overnight. Investigators have no information on a potential suspect in that case.

Also on March 9, deputies contacted and arrested an individual with an outstanding warrant at a fast food restaurant in Kimball Junction. The person also had narcotics with them at the time of the arrest.

On Tuesday, March 10, deputies were dispatched to a burglary in the Summit Park area, where the door to a structure containing residential mailboxes had been pried open the previous day. Detectives do not know whether any items were taken and have no information on a potential suspect.

The shift report covering the March 9-15 period was published by the Sheriff's Office on March 17.
