UDOT to replace two I-80 bridges at Jeremy Ranch interchange

UDOT will begin replacing the eastbound and westbound Interstate 80 bridges at the Jeremy Ranch interchange in Summit County, turning one of the county’s most important commuter links into a long-running construction zone. The agency describes the work as an “unusual approach for minimal impact,” but its project map already shows construction zones near Homestead Road and one-lane traffic in the Jeremy Ranch area.

That matters because this stretch of I-80 carries residents, commuters and visitors between Park City and the Salt Lake Valley. The interchange is a gateway for Jeremy Ranch neighborhoods and nearby businesses, and any slowdown there can ripple into work shifts, deliveries and customer traffic across the west side of Summit County. UDOT says the bridges are key travel routes, and replacing both structures signals a rebuild that is larger than routine maintenance.

The timing makes the disruption more consequential. The work is expected to begin in early August and continue through summer 2027, putting more than one school year, ski season prep and a full stretch of late-summer travel under construction pressure. TownLift has said the traffic impacts will last through 2027, while a Park Record social post said the work will run through summer 2027.

For drivers, the worst choke points are likely to be centered on the interchange itself and the Homestead Road approach, where the project map points to active construction. The Wasatch Back corridor has already been absorbing other UDOT traffic projects this year, and KPCW reported in March that UDOT projects were set to close I-80 and shift traffic in the region. In that broader setting, the Jeremy Ranch bridge work adds another layer of delay to a corridor many locals have no choice but to use.

UDOT’s own Wasatch Back information covers the area from the mouth of Parleys Canyon on I-80 to Park City, underscoring how closely this project is tied to daily movement in Summit County. With UDOT also announcing $2.8 billion in new and ongoing 2026 construction this spring, the Jeremy Ranch job is part of a much larger statewide buildout, but its effects will be felt most immediately by the people trying to get to work, keep trucks moving and keep customers coming through the door.
