La Grande police said a kidnapping and assault report at the Hampton Inn, 2830 Mulholland Dr. in La Grande, drew officers at about 9:33 a.m. April 17 and quickly pulled in the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police. The case later produced three arrests, a search warrant search and a cache of weapons and drugs.

The reporting party told officers the suspects were still inside a room on the hotel’s fourth floor. A multi-agency tactical team cleared the room and found it unoccupied. Investigators said hotel staff cooperated and provided security-camera footage, and additional witnesses later came to the La Grande Police Department with information.

Police then served search warrants on a suspect vehicle and the hotel room tied to the report. Investigators said they recovered multiple handguns, more than 8 grams of fentanyl, zip ties, duct tape, drug records and drug paraphernalia. Police Chief Jason Hays said the arrests were made Sunday, April 19, and identified the suspects as Desiree Dedman, 41, Adam Corig, 40, and Terry Andrews, 39.

The three were booked into the Union County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, strangulation, menacing, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree theft, first-degree robbery, pointing a firearm at another person and unlawful use of a weapon. La Grande police asked anyone with information to contact Sr. Officer Cody Billman at 541-963-1017.

The department also thanked the Union County District Attorney’s Office, the sheriff’s office and Oregon State Police for their help. The county’s limited public-safety footprint made the response especially notable: the sheriff’s office says it has 16 deputy positions, and its jail houses up to 37 inmates.
