Hufnagle Park anchors downtown Lewisburg, boosts health and connectivity

Hufnagle Park is a small but essential public space in the heart of Lewisburg that supports recreation, community life, and movement across town. The park runs roughly between Market Street and Saint Catharine Street and is bounded by South 6th and South 5th Streets. A picnic pavilion, playground equipment and community gardens make it a frequent destination for families and people seeking outdoor respite. Bull Run flows along the park s western edge, and a covered footbridge north of the park was built in the early 1980s in memory of Gordon Hufnagle.

The park also functions as a trailhead and terminus for the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, the county s multi use rail trail that follows the former Lewisburg and Tyrone Railroad corridor west toward Mifflinburg.
