Lewisburg Woman, 76, Gets Probation for Attacking Officer During DUI Arrest
Dodie R. Lovett, 76, of Lewisburg received six months' probation after attacking a police officer during a DUI traffic stop last June.

A 76-year-old Lewisburg woman walked out of Union County Court on Monday with six months' probation after pleading to charges stemming from an attack on a police officer during a DUI arrest last summer.
Dodie R. Lovett had been accused of assaulting an officer during a June 2025 traffic stop in Lewisburg, at which point police say she was heavily intoxicated. The encounter escalated beyond a standard DUI stop into a physical confrontation that ultimately produced both the impaired driving charge and the assault allegation against her.
Union County Court handed down the probationary sentence Monday, March 16, sparing Lovett jail time despite the nature of the underlying conduct. Assaulting a law enforcement officer during an arrest typically carries the possibility of incarceration, making the six-month probationary outcome notable given both the circumstances of the stop and Lovett's age.

The June 2025 traffic stop in Lewisburg set the case in motion. Police responding to the stop encountered Lovett in what they described as a state of heavy intoxication, and the situation deteriorated into a physical altercation before she was taken into custody. The case then moved through Union County Court over the following months before reaching its resolution this week.
With the sentence now entered, Lovett will serve her probation under the supervision of the court, with no period of incarceration ordered as part of Monday's judgment.
