Mifflinburg Kiwanis sells 10-pound blueberry boxes to fund service work
Mifflinburg Kiwanis's blueberry sale helps pay for free swimming lessons, Christmas food baskets and park improvements. Boxes cost $37 and will be picked up July 9.

Money from the Mifflinburg Kiwanis Club’s blueberry sale goes straight into local service work, including free swimming lessons, Christmas food baskets, library support and park improvements in Mifflinburg. The club’s footprint already reaches family programs at Mifflinburg Community Park and a Christmas food distribution that helped feed more than 75 families, showing how a small fundraiser can turn into direct help for Union County households.
Orders were being taken for 10-pound boxes of large New Jersey blueberries at $37 each, and Kiwanis President Annie Smith said, “This is our largest fundraiser of the year, every penny earned goes toward improving the lives of Mifflinburg kiddos and their families.” Customers could call or text 570-847-3996 or email auntieanneus@gmail.com, and pickup was set for July 9 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Green Ridge Market, 411 Forest Hill Road.
Kiwanis International describes the organization as a global volunteer network dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time, and says members contribute more than 12 million volunteer hours and more than $107 million each year. The group’s own impact statement says local projects are shaped by community needs and can include work such as restocking libraries and building playgrounds, which fits the kind of support Mifflinburg Kiwanis has already tied to its name.

That local connection matters in Mifflinburg, a Union County borough of about 3,500 people on Route 45 between State College and Lewisburg. In a town this size, a preordered blueberry sale is a practical way to raise money without a heavy lift for buyers, while keeping volunteer work visible in places families already know, from the park to the library to the annual food box effort.
