Mifflinburg Man Charged With Assault After Attacking Daughter's Boyfriend
A Mifflinburg man allegedly opened a car door, grabbed his daughter's boyfriend by the throat, and punched him repeatedly outside an apartment on Jan. 30.

Austin Levi Soboleski, 38, of Mifflinburg, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment after he allegedly attacked his daughter's boyfriend outside an apartment on January 30, according to Mifflinburg Police Officer David Shaffer. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 7 before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch.
According to the police affidavit summarized by Officer Shaffer, Soboleski approached the victim while the man sat waiting in a parked car outside the apartment. Soboleski allegedly opened the car door, grabbed the victim by the throat, pinned him down, and punched him several times in the ribs. The victim told Shaffer he had stayed in the vehicle specifically to avoid a confrontation.

Soboleski gave investigators a different account. He told police he saw the victim parked near his apartment and approached him to demand he leave the property. Soboleski initially denied any physical contact, but later told police the victim had grabbed his shirt first, prompting him to push back. He said he walked away once neighbors began coming out of nearby apartments.
The confrontation had been building earlier that day. Soboleski's daughter had recently moved out of his apartment and returned on January 30 to collect her belongings. A friend had messaged Soboleski beforehand to say he would be bringing the daughter over. Soboleski responded by telling the friend he did not want the victim on his property, according to the affidavit.
The charging announcement was reported by Newsradio 1070 WKOK on March 10, 2026, citing Mifflinburg Police and NorthcentralPA.com. It remains unclear from available records whether Soboleski was arrested at the scene, when he was arraigned, or what bail conditions, if any, have been set.
The case will next appear before District Judge Jeffrey Mensch on April 7.
