A three-hour hiring event in Selinsgrove will put Union County job seekers face to face with employers looking for workers in healthcare, manufacturing, information technology, transportation and other fields.

PA CareerLink Northumberland, Snyder, and Union Counties will host its Spring Career Fair on April 30 at the Selinsgrove VFW, 940 US-522, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, and organizers say attendees should bring resumes because employers will be on-site to accept them.

The fair is being framed as more than a place to drop off applications. PA CareerLink says its job-seeker services include resume building, mock interview simulation, job search and training assistance, adult education classes and workshops, career fairs and job referral services. For people who want to sharpen their pitch before walking in the door, that matters as much as the employer list.

The regional schedule for The Link places the fair within a broader workforce network serving Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties. The site is also listed as ADA accessible and equipped with computers, internet access, printing and a presentation screen, features that make it a practical stop for people who need help preparing as well as applying.

That setup is relevant in Union County, where residents in Lewisburg, Mifflinburg, New Berlin and surrounding communities often move between counties for work or look for a new job closer to home. A fair that pulls in employers from several industries can matter to workers who need a first job, a better-paying position or a new path after a layoff.

PA CareerLink also says it serves mature workers, people re-entering the workforce, students and youth workers, veterans, apprentices and pre-apprentices, and people with disabilities. Employers can use the system to register, search for candidates, learn about apprenticeship partnerships, report a new hire and request assistance.
