Union County National Night Out planned for Tuesday to build trust

Union County’s National Night Out brought residents to Union College of Union County in Cranford on Aug. 5, 2025, with one UCPD listing placing the celebration from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The annual August event is built to put neighbors, police and community partners in the same place, away from the pressure of a traffic stop, a 911 call or a courtroom.

National Night Out falls every year on the first Tuesday in August, and the 2025 date matched that schedule. Across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, communities used the night to mark a common public-safety goal: building relationships before a problem turns into an emergency. That is why the Cranford gathering mattered locally, even as similar events were promoted in places such as Lewisburg and Lancaster-area communities.

For Union County families, the evening was a practical way to ask about neighborhood concerns and get safety information in one place.
