Appraisal Senior Project Manager Ryan Zuck reported to county commissioners that Tyler Technologies has moved in-field data collection into Lewisburg borough to survey 17,647 parcels as Union County conducts its first countywide reassessment since 2006. Zuck updated commissioners during a Tuesday public work session and detailed the parcel mix as about 1,100 commercial and more than 16,500 residential and agricultural properties.

Union County’s Reassessment Project Updates page frames the effort as a countywide initiative “to ensure fair and equitable property valuations across the county” and says new values will be implemented for the 2028 tax year. The county page also sets the assessment date, values will reflect market conditions “as of the assessment date of July 1, 2026”, and notes the project “addresses the 24-year gap since the last countywide reassessment.”

On current field progress, Daily Item reporting paraphrased Zuck: “Zuck said data collectors have completed residential and commercial activities in Gregg Township and White Deer. Kelly Township will wrap up this week.” Those comments accompany reports that in-field activities moved into Lewisburg borough this week to continue measurements and photography of structures. Standard-Journal coverage included a photo caption identifying Preston Boop as Board of Commissioners Chair during the meeting where the update was provided.

County materials and republished local reports identify Tyler Technologies as the contracted vendor for the reassessment. Republished accounts list the contract value at $1,376,564 with a term through Nov. 15, 2027; those reports also note Tyler has worked on reassessment efforts in neighboring counties. The county website describes the project phases as “Data Collection, Market Analysis, Valuation, Valuation Review and Informal Hearings.”

Union County’s data-collector rules and identification procedures are posted on the county page: collectors will measure structures, gather details like year built and room counts, and photograph all significant buildings. “Data collectors will wear bright yellow vests marked ‘Tyler’ and carry county-issued ID badges. They will never enter homes and will leave if only a minor is present or if asked by the owner to do so,” the county guidance states.

A township-by-season schedule published in republished reports shows winter targets including White Deer Township, Kelly Township, Lewisburg, East Buffalo Township and Union Township; spring targets Buffalo Township, New Berlin, Limestone Township and Mifflinburg; summer targets West Buffalo Township, Lewis Township and Hartleton; and late summer or fall 2026 for Hartley Township. The county also says regular updates will be posted on its reassessment page and that a project-specific website “will soon be available” to inform property owners.

A second reassessment public meeting is scheduled Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Union County Government Center, 155 N. 15th St., Lewisburg, with Tyler Technologies listed as the host. With data collection underway in Lewisburg and other townships, county officials point to valuation review and informal hearings next in the timeline ahead of implementing new assessments for the 2028 tax year.
