White Deer man charged with marijuana possession, paraphernalia count

Jeremy Reich, 42, of Union Avenue in White Deer, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, two drug offenses that place a local defendant into Union County’s court system.

The charges are not felonies, but they still carry real legal exposure. In Union County, cases like this can lead to fines, probation, treatment requirements, and other court-ordered conditions depending on how they are resolved. Possession of paraphernalia also matters because it is often filed alongside drug possession and can involve items used to consume, store, or package controlled substances.

For defendants in Snyder and Union counties, low-level drug cases can sometimes intersect with the 17th Judicial District Treatment Court. Union County’s 17th Judicial District Treatment Court is for adults charged with non-violent criminal offenses driven by addiction to drugs or alcohol, and it can be completed in 12 to 18 months. The program includes weekly court appearances, frequent drug and alcohol testing, intensive treatment, intensive supervision, and immediate sanctions and incentives. Clients who do not comply can be removed and resentenced to state prison.

The treatment court is tied to the Union County Courthouse at 103 S. Second Street in Lewisburg. White Deer township spans 46.2 square miles and has a population of 4,402, or 95.4 people per square mile, according to Census Reporter. Union County’s population is about 42,300.
