Del Rio Comic Jose Sarduy Set to Appear on National Late-Night Show

Jose Sarduy, the Del Rio-born comedian who retired from Laughlin Air Force Base as a lieutenant colonel after nearly three decades in the 434th Flying Training Squadron, is set to appear tonight on the nationally syndicated late-night program "Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen" on CBS.

Sarduy will join a rotating panel that includes comedians Heather Shaw, Bruce Bruce and Noah Gardenswartz on the episode airing March 18 at 12:37 a.m. on CBS, according to a CBS program release. The program is also available for streaming through Paramount+ via local affiliates.

The appearance adds another national television credit to a resume that already includes NBC's "Last Comic Standing," where Sarduy was a featured contestant, stand-up on "The Tonight Show," and nationally televised comedy showcases on both Comedy Central and Showtime. He also holds one of the most-watched specials on Dry Bar Comedy.

Val Verde County residents who have attended shows at the Ramada's Grand Ballroom, the Paul Poag Theatre or the Del Rio Civic Center will recognize Sarduy from years of local performances. He built that comedy career in parallel with his military service, performing across the country, on cruise ships and for deployed troops around the world, all while fulfilling his Reserve duties at Laughlin.

Sarduy is an Air Force Academy graduate who completed his pilot training in Del Rio before committing much of his career to the 434th Flying Training Squadron. "Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen" features a rotating panel of stand-up comedians delivering short monologues and humorous takes on everyday topics in a talk-show format hosted by Byron Allen, per the CBS program release.
