Del Rio Police Arrest Two Teens in Vehicle Burglary Investigation
Jesus Enrique Rios, 17, tried to escape custody at the Del Rio police station after his arrest — then named a second suspect in a string of vehicle burglaries.

Del Rio police arrested two 17-year-olds on March 19 in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries across the city, recovering stolen property at one suspect's residence and adding an Escape charge after the other tried to flee from inside the police station.
Jesus Enrique Rios was taken into custody first, at approximately 9:00 a.m., when officers executed search and arrest warrants at a residence in the 200 block of Juanita Street. Detectives had traced a stolen firearm to Rios after determining he had sold it, and additional stolen property was recovered at the Juanita Street location when warrants were served. Once transported to the station and interviewed, Rios admitted involvement in multiple vehicle burglaries and identified a second suspect by name: Aydin Horton, also 17.
Before that lead could go cold, Rios attempted to escape from custody while still at the police station. Officers quickly apprehended him, and he was charged with Escape on top of the existing Theft of a Firearm warrant.
Armed with Rios' admission and Horton's name, investigators obtained a search warrant for Horton's residence and vehicle, along with a separate arrest warrant charging Horton with Theft of a Firearm. At approximately 2:00 p.m., officers executed those warrants at a residence in the 200 block of Space Boulevard. Horton was taken into custody without incident.

Both suspects were transported to the GEO Correctional Facility pending the magistration process.
The arrests grew out of a broader pattern that Del Rio police had been tracking in recent weeks. Investigators noted a rise in vehicle burglaries across the city and obtained video footage showing two male suspects committing several of the offenses. That footage gave detectives enough identifying information to develop a lead on one of the individuals, eventually connecting the surveillance evidence to Rios through the trail of a stolen and resold firearm.
The investigation remains open. Officers are continuing to work to identify additional victims and gather further information related to the recent burglaries. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Del Rio Police Department.
