Pickup truck fire on North Bedell Avenue causes total loss

A pickup truck engulfed in flames on North Bedell Avenue around 3:00 PM Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2025, prompted a response from the Del Rio Fire Department and left a parking space scarred by molten metal and ash. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and cleared the scene by about 5:00 PM. No injuries were reported, emergency medical services were not on scene, and no one required transport to a hospital.

Responding personnel and the vehicle owner indicated the fire was suspected to be electrical in nature, possibly originating with a battery problem. The owner reported the truck is a total loss. Fire crews worked to contain the blaze in a residential parking area and to ensure the surrounding neighborhood and properties were not threatened.
