Los Lunas Schools Opens Returning Student Registration March 23 for 2026-27

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year opened today across Los Lunas Schools, the district that serves more than 8,300 students across several elementary, middle, and high schools in Valencia County.

Pre-K families have staggered dates ahead. Tiger Nation registration follows on March 26. Jaguar Nation dates shift this year due to the transition to Peralta Elementary: programs APE, DVE, and TE register April 9 at Peralta Elementary, while BFE, PE, and VE register April 16 at the same site. Kindergarten registration requires families to enroll at the child's home school; those seeking a different site must apply for a transfer during the summer window running June 1 through August 1, 2026.

The district has also released its newly approved 2026-2027 student calendar. Students will return to school on August 4, with a full week off for Thanksgiving Break. Spring Break will follow Easter, running March 29 through April 1.

"The District would like to extend their appreciation to the committee members for their volunteer efforts and to all community members and employees who participated in the survey and voting process," stated Jessica Montaño, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, Accountability and Assessment. The district described the calendar as reflecting "its commitment to incorporating feedback from those who are most impacted by the school schedule: students, families, and staff."

Families needing bus service should visit either the East Side Transportation Department at 112 Meadowlake Rd. or the West Side Transportation Department at 1262 NM Highway 314. Elsewhere in the district, two Valencia High School seniors recently signed commitment letters to attend the Western Welding Academy in Gillette, Wyoming. The students, identified by the district as Y.S. and C.H., will begin their program at the end of June 2026 and complete it six months later as master welders. Additionally, a student identified as Z.A. is headed to two national competitions: NASP Nationals in Sandy, Utah in April and JRTOC Nationals at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri in May, having competed at the state level alongside instructor SFC Howard Baity.

Los Lunas Schools has also put out a save-the-date notice for its 13th Annual Golf Tournament, though specific dates and registration details had not been released as of today.
