OVRDC Holds Vinton County First-Round Caucus Tuesday to Elect Chair
OVRDC held a first-round caucus in McArthur to elect a caucus chair and brief residents on community development funding and regional project updates.

The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission convened Vinton County's first-round caucus at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Vinton County Commissioners Office at 100 E. Main St. in McArthur. County representative members met with OVRDC staff to elect a caucus chair, assign committee responsibilities, and receive briefings on available community development funding and ongoing regional economic projects.
OVRDC staff coordinated the meeting with local officials to update representative members on committee assignments and to put the caucus chair vote on the agenda. Presentations by agency staff laid out funding programs that municipalities, townships, and community groups may pursue, along with progress updates on projects that affect Vinton County and surrounding counties in the Ohio Valley region.
The session was open to the public and included a period for comments and questions from attendees. The public setting gave residents and local officials an opportunity to raise concerns and priorities directly to OVRDC staff, helping shape which projects and funding streams receive attention in the coming months. The meeting took place in the Vinton County Courthouse, keeping the discussion within the county's central civic space and accessible to downtown McArthur residents.
For local government leaders and community organizations, the caucus is a procedural but consequential step. Electing a caucus chair determines who will coordinate county input to the OVRDC and who will shepherd committee work that influences grant applications, regional planning, and project advocacy. Committee assignments decided at the meeting will guide which local projects receive technical support or priority when regional dollars are allocated.
Residents tracking roads, broadband, economic development, or public facilities projects will want to note that the caucus included staff presentations on how to access development funds and the status of regional initiatives that could deliver resources to Vinton County. Participation at these meetings and follow-up with OVRDC staff can help turn local priorities into funded projects.
Those seeking more information or a copy of the meeting agenda may contact Stephanie Gilbert, OVRDC Executive Director, at 740-947-2853. The caucus's selections and committee work now set the county's immediate agenda with the OVRDC, and attendees can expect follow-up as projects move from presentation to application and implementation.
