OVRDC Vinton County caucus canceled by winter weather, rescheduled Feb. 10
OVRDC canceled the Vinton County caucus because of inclement winter weather; the meeting is rescheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, affecting local civic planning and participation.

The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission canceled its Vinton County caucus scheduled for Jan. 27 at the Vinton County Courthouse because of inclement winter weather and rescheduled the meeting for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, OVRDC communications show. The change follows a regional winter weather advisory that covered Jackson and Vinton counties.
OVRDC used social media and a January 23 website post to adjust multiple county caucus plans as forecasts worsened. The January 23 post by Eli Cole moved Fayette County’s caucus to a virtual 9:00 a.m. session and Ross County’s to a virtual 11:00 a.m. meeting, and it rescheduled Pike County for Monday, Feb. 9. A LinkedIn weather update stated, “Due to inclement weather, the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission has adjusted several upcoming meetings: Tuesday, January 27 • Vinton County Caucus → Rescheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10 AM,” and promised continued updates.
OVRDC also announced the agency’s offices were closed on Tuesday, January 27, and said staff remained available by email. Local reporting replicated the agency’s notice: “The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC) meeting that had been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Vinton County Courthouse was canceled. The meeting has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10,” according to a February 3 local report by Alex Shope. LinkedIn posts from OVRDC noted additional weather-related actions: the OPWC District 15 meeting was cancelled with a reschedule date forthcoming, while Gallia and Scioto caucuses proceeded as planned. A separate LinkedIn post recorded a Lawrence County caucus cancellation for a meeting slated at 1:00 p.m.
For residents and local officials, the changes interrupt routine civic timelines. County caucuses serve as a venue for local officials, community leaders, and stakeholders to weigh regional priorities, and schedule shifts can delay discussions about projects, funding priorities, and representation on OVRDC committees. Residents planning to attend or participate virtually should note the new Feb. 10 start time for Vinton County and the Feb. 9 date for Pike County.
OVRDC provided staff contacts for secure virtual access to Microsoft Teams meetings; for meeting access contact Eli Cole at ecole@ovrdc.org or Shannon Nichols at snichols@ovrdc.org. The agency asked the public to monitor its social channels for the latest schedule updates.
What comes next for Vinton County is the Feb. 10 caucus itself; any further changes will likely hinge on weather conditions and localized power or safety concerns. Residents and local officials with agenda items or concerns should use the provided contacts to confirm meeting format and access ahead of the rescheduled session.
