Vinton County Health District Advisory Council Meets Monday, March 23

The Vinton County General Health District Advisory Council will hold its annual meeting Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. at the Vinton County Community Building, 31935 State Route 93 in McArthur.
The District Advisory Council is a separate body from the Vinton County Board of Health, which holds its own monthly meetings at 5 p.m. in the Health Department Conference Room. The Board's next scheduled meeting is March 25. Board of Health officers include President Vicki Boring, whose term expires in 2029, and Vice President James Woltz, whose term expires in 2028. Members Julie Zuspan and Robert Placier hold seats expiring in 2027 and 2030, respectively, with Dr. Becky Huston serving as the physician member through 2026.
The last documented annual meeting of the District Advisory Council took place March 18, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Little Vikes Diaper Pantry, according to the Vinton County Health Department's website.
The health department, whose staff is expected to participate in Monday's meeting, oversees a broad range of public health programs across Vinton County. Those programs include immunizations, communicable disease monitoring, tuberculosis testing, lead exposure prevention, and the Substance Use P.O.R.T. initiative. Environmental health services cover food service inspections, sewage systems, private water systems, nuisance complaints, and mosquito and tick information. Family-focused programs include Help Me Grow, a car seat program, Cribs for Kids, and the Little Vikes Baby Pantry.
