Vinton County Residents Invited to Comment on OVRDC 2050 Plan
Residents can review and comment on the OVRDC 2050 Comprehensive Transportation Plan; community input will help shape local projects and funding priorities.

Vinton County residents have a short window to shape long-term transportation priorities as the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission sought public comment on its 2050 Comprehensive Transportation Plan. The plan sets a 25-year vision for the OVRDC region, including Vinton County, and will inform recommended improvements across roads, transit, freight, walking and biking.
The OVRDC posted the notice on January 20, 2026, and the public comment period runs from January 20 through February 3, 2026. Residents, local officials, stakeholders and partner agencies are invited to review the draft plan and submit feedback. Jacob Taylor, OVRDC Transportation Planning Specialist, is listed as the contact for questions and submissions at jtaylor@ovrdc.org or by phone at 740-947-2853. The full 2050 CTP and appendices are available online through the OVRDC website or by contacting Taylor for a direct link.
The 2050 CTP is designed to analyze current and projected transportation needs across multiple modes of travel and to recommend projects and policies over a 25-year horizon. For Vinton County that can mean decisions about road maintenance and safety, connectivity for residents without regular access to a car, school bus and emergency response routes, and the movement of goods that support local businesses. Community input is explicitly noted as part of the plan development process and will be considered in preparing the final plan.

For local officials and project planners the draft offers a framework to coordinate investments and to prioritize projects that compete for state and federal funding. For residents the plan is a rare opportunity to register support or concerns about specific corridors, intersection safety, pedestrian and bicycle access, or public transit options. Small, rural counties often must make tradeoffs between pavement repair, bridge upkeep, and any new service; public comment can help steer those tradeoffs toward local priorities.
Submitting comments before the February 3 deadline will ensure voices from Vinton County are included in the final document. After the window closes OVRDC will consider the feedback as it prepares the final 2050 CTP, which will guide transportation policy and investment in the region through mid-century. Residents who want to review the plan or need assistance accessing materials should contact Jacob Taylor at jtaylor@ovrdc.org or 740-947-2853 to obtain the plan and appendices.
