Vinton County voters should check their registration status, precinct and polling location now, before the May 5 primary puts them in line at the wrong place or forces a last-minute fix. The county’s voter lookup tool was refreshed early on April 23, giving residents a current way to confirm their information while there is still time to correct problems, plan absentee voting or prepare for Election Day.

The lookup page is part of the Vinton County Board of Elections’ broader online tools, which also include absentee lookup, polling place search, ballot list display, voter and absentee report generation, precinct and polling location display, and street report generation. The board’s voter-registration page also links to “Am I registered?”, “How to Register” and “Registration Deadline,” making the county site a practical stop for anyone who has moved, changed a name or simply wants to make sure the record is accurate before voting.

That matters because Ohio’s calendar is moving fast. The registration deadline for the May 5, 2026 primary was April 6. Early in-person voting and absentee voting by mail both began April 7. Polls on Election Day will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and non-UOCAVA absentee ballots must be received by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Ohio Secretary of State materials also note that voters have more than four weeks of early voting for the primary, including evening and weekend hours.

If a voter cannot find a registration record but believes the registration should exist, state guidance says a provisional ballot may still be an option in certain circumstances. That safeguard can matter for anyone who discovers an address mismatch, a precinct change or another issue only after the deadline has passed. The state’s voter-search page is designed to help people check registration and find a voting precinct and polling location, while the county’s own tools provide a local route to the same information.

The county board is based at the Vinton County Courthouse & Commissioners’ Office, 100 E. Main St. in McArthur, and can be reached at 740-596-4571. Vinton County government lists Debbie Stephens as board chair, with Sandi Fee, Berneice Minton and Barbie Hammond serving as board members. With the primary days away, the lookup tool is one of the simplest ways to avoid delays and make sure a ballot can be cast at the right place on time.
