Paris Banh Mi Closes Cary Location After About Two Years in Business

A sign posted on the front door of Paris Banh Mi's Cary location offered no reason for the closure, only a farewell: "We regret to inform you that Paris Banh Mi is now permanently closed. Thank you very much for your support over the years. We truly appreciate our customers and the community. We wish everyone the best."

The French-Vietnamese sandwich shop and bakery at 712 SE Maynard Road shut down abruptly in mid-March after about two years in business. Phone calls to the Cary location did not go through, and the restaurant's social media pages have since been deleted.

The closure leaves the Triangle with just one Paris Banh Mi: the Chapel Hill location that opened in February at Meadowmont Village. The chain also maintains locations in Greensboro and Jacksonville. Paris Banh Mi's website lists more than 40 restaurants nationwide, though calls to the company's corporate office went unanswered.

The Cary closure is not the chain's only recent setback in North Carolina. The Charlotte location in the Ayrsley neighborhood, at 8943 S Tryon St., was listed as permanently closed on Google and Yelp as of March 17. That restaurant had opened in September 2024. Ricky Nie, who owned the Ayrsley café, confirmed he sold the business in July or August of last year; pho restaurant Sushi Naru has since taken over the South Tryon Street space.

Paris Banh Mi built its menu around banh mi sandwiches on French baguettes alongside baked goods, boba tea, Korean corn dogs, flavored milk teas, and a French pâtisserie section featuring cheesecake and tarts. The Cary building, which previously housed a Five Guys, sits in a stretch of SE Maynard Road that continues to attract food and beverage tenants.

The gap left by Paris Banh Mi in Cary's dining scene may not last long. Dave's Hot Chicken and Lloyd's Full Service are among the restaurants that have announced plans to open in Cary in the near term.
