Velvet Taco opened Feb. 16 at 4208 Six Forks Rd, Suite 150 in North Hills, Raleigh, taking over the former World of Beer and giving the first 56 guests free tacos for a month.

Velvet Taco opened its first Triangle location Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at 4208 Six Forks Rd, Suite 150 in Raleigh’s North Hills Park District, occupying the former World of Beer space at the base of Captrust Tower. The Dallas‑born chain posted an 11 a.m. opening time on Instagram and ran an opening-week promotion tied to the brand’s 56th location number.
The North Hills restaurant spans 2,751 square feet and offers 62 indoor seats plus a 49-seat outdoor patio, according to Triangle Around Town. The Velvettaco.com location page lists operating hours as Sunday–Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and provides a local phone number, 919-867-4667, for orders and inquiries.
Menu highlights arriving with the Raleigh opening include Spicy Tikka Chicken and Korean Fried Rice tacos, Nashville Hot Tofu, Fish N’ Chips, Velvet Bowls, the signature red velvet cake, and the Kick‑Ass Margarita. The brand’s rotating Weekly Taco Feature program, abbreviated WTF, will run at the Raleigh location, offering a new limited‑time taco each week, and the company markets late-night hours as part of its model.
Promotions around the opening were explicit: social posts and Triangle Around Town reported that the first 56 people in line received free tacos for a month, tying the number to Velvet Taco’s 56th location. The chain also offered a Velvet Room loyalty perk for customers who signed up by Feb. 15, which secured a free taco or bowl during opening week. Velvettaco.com ran a separate promotion for $5 Kick‑Ass Margaritas available from Feb. 20 to Feb. 22, 2026, with the site noting the offer is subject to local alcohol laws and not available through third‑party delivery or catering.
Company and property officials framed the North Hills site as strategic. Clay Dover, CEO of Velvet Taco, said, “North Hills represents the ideal place for Velvet Taco's boundary-pushing culinary vision,” and added, “As we strategically expand nationwide, this vibrant Raleigh location embodies exactly what we seek – a dynamic community hungry for bold, global flavors. Our mission has always been to shatter expectations of what a taco can be. From our rotating Weekly Taco Features to our signature offerings, we're ready to take Raleigh's taste buds on an adventure.”
Highwoods Properties and Kane Realty executives welcomed the tenant. Skip Hill, Senior Vice President at Highwoods Properties, said, “We are excited to welcome Velvet Taco to the vibrant mix of restaurants and retailers at Captrust Tower in the Park District,” and noted the new Velvet Taco will sit next to Tifa Chocolate & Gelato, which Hill said is “currently under construction and set to open later this year.” Stacey Buescher, Managing Director of Operations at Kane Realty Corporation, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Velvet Taco to North Hills. Their bold flavors, energetic vibe, and commitment to culinary creativity are a perfect match for the dynamic atmosphere we continue to cultivate at North Hills.”
Triangle Around Town also noted community connections tied to the opening, reporting that proceeds from the Raleigh 'Cue support Note in the Pocket, a local nonprofit. The Velvet Taco opening was included in wider Triangle restaurant coverage alongside other recent arrivals, reinforcing North Hills’ rapid expansion of dining options. The Raleigh location lists ordering, app downloads, and catering options on Velvettaco.com and operates under the local hours and phone number provided for customers.
