AWC Matadors Host No. 18 College of Southern Nevada in Top-20 Showdown
AWC baseball, ranked No. 19 nationally at 22-4, hosts No. 18 College of Southern Nevada at Walt Kammann Field this weekend.

Arizona Western College's Matadors carried a 22-4 record and a second consecutive week at No. 19 in the NJCAA Division I national polls into a home series against No. 18 College of Southern Nevada, setting up a rare top-20 showdown at Walt Kammann Field scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
The matchup pairs two programs separated by a single ranking slot in the Week Four NJCAA DI poll, with CSN sitting one spot ahead of AWC at No. 18. A third ACCAC program, Cochise College, holds the No. 15 position nationally, making the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference one of the most represented leagues in junior college baseball's top 20.
The Matadors built their case for the ranking with a 4-1 week that included wins over Arizona Christian JV and the White Rock Tritons of British Columbia, Canada, along with taking two of three games on the road against ACCAC rival Yavapai. Arizona Western's 6-3 conference mark reflects a schedule that has not spared them difficult opposition.

Before the Southern Nevada series, the Matadors headed to the San Diego area for a road game against California Miramar University, giving the team a cross-state test immediately before returning to Yuma for the headlining weekend.
AWC's 22-4 record and consecutive weeks at No. 19 suggest a program running with consistent momentum rather than a one-week spike, and holding that position at home against a team ranked above them would push Arizona Western's résumé deeper into the national conversation heading into the back half of the NJCAA season.
