The Children’s Museum of Yuma County opened a new hands-on exhibit called the Kids Care Clinic in downtown Yuma, debuting to the public on Feb. 19, 2026. Developed in close collaboration with Onvida Health, the exhibit aims to introduce children to caregiving and healthcare roles through imaginative, practical play.
Museum leadership said the project was made possible through the support of Onvida Health’s board of directors. Sabra Lemmon, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Yuma County, described the exhibit as a community partnership that turns learning into play. “The museum is excited to see our visitors explore the medical world through imagination and play. This exhibit is another wonderful example of how our partnership with Onvida Health brings learning to life for families in Yuma,” Lemmon said. “Together, we’re showing what’s possible when local organizations collaborate.”
Visitors to the Kids Care Clinic will find a staged medical setting with specific stations designed for role play. The exhibit includes a check-in desk for registration play, a radiology area featuring a miniature CT scanner scaled for children, a newborn nursery to simulate infant care, a clinic area stocked with lab coats and medical supplies for clinician role play, and a child-sized ambulance children can explore to simulate emergency transport. The museum’s broader exhibit mix continues to include a theater area for young performers, a block station, and an art area aimed at encouraging creativity.

Onvida Health’s leadership framed the exhibit as an investment in community health and youth opportunity. Dr. Robert J. Trenschel, President and CEO of Onvida Health, said, “This investment reflects our deep belief in building a healthier tomorrow for our community. By creating opportunities for children to learn through play, we’re planting the seeds of confidence and a lifelong connection to caring for others.” Machele Headington, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Onvida Health, added, “Onvida Health is deeply rooted in this community and that means investing in places our children feel safe, inspired and empowered. We’re incredibly proud that our exhibit encourages exploration and shows kids that healthcare careers are not only important to a community, but also exciting and attainable.”
The museum and Onvida Health characterize the Kids Care Clinic as a permanent addition to the Children’s Museum’s hands-on learning offerings in downtown Yuma. The exhibit’s debut marks a visible example of local institutional collaboration aimed at sparking interest in caregiving careers among Yuma County children.
