Enrollment Opens for 2026-27 at Yuma District One and Crane School District
Yuma Elementary School District One and Crane Elementary School District are now enrolling PreK–8 students; District One classes begin Aug. 3, 2026, Crane begins July 27, 2026.

Superintendent Denis Ponder of Yuma Elementary School District One announced that the district is now accepting students for preschool through 8th grade, with the first day of classes set for Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. Crane Elementary School District is also open to PreK–8 enrollment, and Crane’s first day is Monday, July 27, 2026.
“At District One, we’re preparing students not only for academic success, but for a lifetime of growth and leadership,” said Superintendent Denis Ponder. “We’re proud to provide an environment where students can explore their interests, challenge themselves, and build a strong foundation for the future. We’re excited to welcome new and returning families for a school year filled with inspiration and opportunities.” District One’s public messaging and enrollment materials list rigorous academics and enrichment opportunities, including student government, sports, art, music, physical education, and before- and after-school programs for the 2026-2027 school year.
Crane Elementary School District, described in district materials captured for this reporting as one of Yuma County’s largest elementary districts, “prides itself on providing a 'student-centered education that supports academic excellence, personal growth, and lifelong learning.'” Crane’s enrollment push covers preschool through 8th grade and mirrors District One in grade span while starting classes a week earlier in late July.
District One’s online materials prominently offer practical enrollment items: a downloadable 2026-2027 Student Calendar, calls to action labeled “Apply Now Enroll Today” and “Now Enrolling: 26/27 School Year,” and social media links to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. The district also highlights recent recognitions on its site capture, including a 2026 Yuma County Spelling Bee achievement at Fourth Ave Jr. High and a 2025 listing of “37 Perfect Scores on AASA” for Yuma School District One, along with 2025 awards such as Excellence in Financial Accounting for the finance department and AVID National Demonstration School designation for Woodard Jr. High.

Families considering long-term school plans should note countywide high-school rules that may affect transitions. Yuma Union High School District states it is an open enrollment district under Arizona Revised Statutes 15-816 and District Governing Board policy 5-105, provides an open enrollment form, and warns that “granting open enrollment does not guarantee athletic eligibility at the new school. If you have questions about athletic eligibility please speak to the athletic director at one of the district high schools.” YUHSD materials captured in the same reporting include an image labeled “2025-26 Open Enrollment (Updated 12-3-25)” showing capacity status by grade.
The district pages captured for this article include enrollment calls to action and a student calendar but do not list specific registration-night dates, times, or locations for in-person sign-ups. Parents and guardians should use the districts’ enrollment pages and posted calendars to confirm required documents and next steps; District One’s site specifically invites families to “Apply Now” and to download the 2026-2027 Student Calendar.
