Meet Mallie, Yuma's Husky Mix With Sponsored Adoption Fee

A 35-pound Husky mix named Mallie is waiting at the Humane Society of Yuma with one advantage most shelter dogs don't have: her adoption fee is fully covered.

Mallie is 2½ years old, spayed, and energetic and affectionate in equal measure. She loves to run outdoors, welcomes a good petting session and winds down by curling up on the couch. For a mid-size dog with Husky instincts, she has proven adaptable: Mallie has lived with cats and gets along with other dogs, widening the range of households that could be a good fit.

At 35 pounds, she sits toward the lighter end of the Husky-mix range, but prospective owners should still plan for the exercise and mental stimulation the breed demands. Mallie is happiest when active outside, which makes her a natural match for Yuma residents who spend time outdoors, particularly in the spring months before the heat peaks.
