Prison Hill Softball Team Raises Funds for Crash Survivor Nathan Guerrero
A Yuma softball team raised funds for Nathan Guerrero, injured in a February crash, by donating 15% of all beer and food sales at Prison Hill Brewing.

Nathan Guerrero needed help, and his community showed up at the tap.
The Prison Hill Softball Team hosted a benefit night at Prison Hill Brewing Company in downtown Yuma on Wednesday, March 24, running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., to raise money for Guerrero, who suffered serious injuries in a crash near E. 32nd Street and Winsor Avenue, close to Bici Park, back in February.
The event was billed as a Prison Hill Brewing "takeover," with 15% of all purchases made during the five-hour window, including alcohol, directed to Guerrero's recovery. The fundraiser model put the entire patronage of the brewery to work: every pint poured and every purchase rung up between 5 and 10 contributed directly to his medical costs.
The brewery event was not the team's only avenue for support. A GoFundMe established to cover Guerrero's medical expenses carried a goal of $6,500 and had collected nearly $5,600 at the time the fundraiser was organized, putting the campaign within striking distance of its target.
The crash site near Bici Park, tucked into a residential stretch of east Yuma, is a familiar part of the city's landscape. That specificity, a named intersection, a recognizable park, a local softball team mobilizing around one of their own, is what gave the fundraiser its pull.
Those who missed the Wednesday event can still contribute to Guerrero's recovery through the GoFundMe page set up on his behalf.
