Wellton Man Arrested in Connection With 2025 Union Pacific Train Burglary

A man was taken into custody in Wellton at about 8:05 a.m. on March 4, 2026, after Yuma Police Department investigators executed a search warrant in connection with a burglary that targeted a Union Pacific train car the previous summer, according to YPD.
The original crime occurred on July 3, 2025, at about 1:25 p.m., when someone broke into a Union Pacific train car while it was stopped. Nearly eight months passed before investigators had enough to seek a search warrant, with the March 4 execution in Wellton resulting in the man's arrest.
During the same warrant operation, a woman was found at the location and arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. YPD has not clarified publicly whether her warrant is connected to the July 3, 2025 Union Pacific burglary or stems from a separate matter.
