Council agenda packets for the City of Yuma once ran 400 to 450 printed pages. Lynda Bushong helped change that.

The City of Yuma announced the retirement of City Clerk Lynda Bushong after 18 years of dedicated service, crediting her with modernizing public records access and guiding the Clerk's Office through operational improvements that expanded both efficiency and public access.

Bushong joined the City in 2008 as Deputy City Clerk and was appointed to the City Clerk role two years later. Over the course of her tenure, she helped drive the shift away from those unwieldy printed agenda packets to fully electronic distribution, improving accessibility while reducing printing costs and streamlining the process for city leadership.

Mayor Doug Nicholls offered a full tribute in response to the announcement. "Congratulations to our City Clerk Lynda Bushong on her well-earned retirement," Nicholls said. "Throughout her career, she has been an essential part of the Yuma City Clerk's Office, helping build a strong and dependable team that serves our community with professionalism and integrity. Lynda's dedication to public service and commitment to the people of Yuma and to many Municipal Clerks throughout the state will leave a lasting impact. We thank her for the many years she has devoted to making our local government stronger and wish her the best in this next chapter."

The City's official announcement, reposted on its Facebook page, described her service as spanning 18 years with both the organization and the community. No specific retirement date has been announced, and the City has not yet identified a successor or interim City Clerk.
