Yuma County National Day of Prayer event set for May 7 in Yuma
Coffee, doughnuts and lunch will greet Yuma County residents May 7 at Healing House, with Jackie Alves the contact for the National Day of Prayer gathering.

Coffee, doughnuts and lunch will be waiting for Yuma County residents when the National Day of Prayer gathering opens at the Healing House of Yuma on Thursday, May 7. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2055 S. Arizona Avenue, next to the Yuma Sun, and organizers are encouraging attendees to bring a friend.
FTS Automotive & Diesel Center, Yuma Farmers Market and Gill Family Farms are sponsoring the gathering, giving the observance a local backing that connects businesses and agriculture to the day’s prayer focus. Jackie Alves is the point of contact for questions at 760-457-6520 or 602-663-4534.
This year’s theme is “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations,” drawn from 1 Chronicles 16:24 NASB. The National Day of Prayer Task Force says the observance is the largest day of prayer in the United States, with more than 70,000 events held nationwide on the first Thursday in May.
The day traces back to 1952, when Congress created the National Day of Prayer. In 1988, the law was amended to permanently set the observance on the first Thursday in May, giving the annual gathering a fixed place on the calendar. The 2026 observance is being framed as the 75th National Day of Prayer and also as part of the 250th year since the founding of the United States.
The Healing House of Yuma describes itself as a Christ-centered, Bible-based nonprofit in Yuma, Arizona, with a mission to see people saved, healed, delivered and equipped to help others do the same. That setting makes the May 7 event both a prayer gathering and a practical community stop, with a clear schedule, a central Yuma location and local sponsors behind it.
