Yuma County Sheriff Notifies Public of Level 1 Sex Offender in Wellton
Jose Alonso, 51, a Level 1 sex offender, moved to Wellton. The sheriff's office notified the public March 16 under Arizona's community notification law.

Jose Alonso, 51, has reported a new residence in Wellton, prompting the Yuma County Sheriff's Office to issue a community notification on March 16, 2026 under Arizona Revised Statutes A.R.S. 13-3825, the Community Notification on Sex Offenders Law.
Alonso carries a Level 1 classification, which under Arizona's three-tier system designates him as a low risk to the community. Level 2 offenders are considered an intermediate risk, and Level 3 offenders a high risk. The YCSO is required by law to notify the public when sex offenders are released from the Arizona State Prison, accepted under an interstate compact, or released from county jail back into the community.
The sheriff's office did not release a specific street address for Alonso in Wellton, and the research notes indicate his prior conviction details were not included in the available portion of the notification. No street address, physical description, or conviction history for Alonso appeared in the materials the YCSO made public.
The YCSO has been active with multiple offender notifications in recent days. A separate Level 3 notification identified Elijah Dale Seybert, 46, as residing at 63800 E. Highway 80, #2 in Dateland. Seybert, who stands 6 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 275 pounds, and has bald hair and brown eyes, pleaded guilty on September 29, 2017, to two counts of False Information on Registration and one count of Patronizing a Prostitute at Boulder County Court in Boulder, Colorado. The office noted he is not wanted by the YCSO at this time. A third notification identified George Williams as a Level 1 offender now living at 13610 E. 48th Drive in Yuma.

The YCSO emphasized that these notifications are not intended to generate fear. "This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community," the office stated in its release for Williams, language that reflects the department's standard policy position. The office also noted it has no legal authority to dictate where a registered sex offender may live unless a court has imposed specific restrictions, and warned that any citizen harassment, threats, or intimidation toward offenders will not be tolerated.
Residents can register for free email alerts or search for offenders in their area through the YCSO's OffenderWatch page. Anyone with information about current criminal activity involving these or any other offenders can call the Yuma County Sheriff's Office at (928) 783-4427. The notifications were released by Tania Pavlak, Public Affairs Specialist for the YCSO.
