Douglas Allen spent part of the early 2000s running Yuma County's finances. The City of Yuma has now brought him back to the region, naming him Director of Finance after a national candidate search that City Administrator Philip Rodriguez said made the choice unmistakable.

Allen arrives with more than 25 years of management experience and a career spanning multiple Arizona governments. Before the City of Yuma appointment, he served as Chief Financial Officer for the Town of Paradise Valley. Earlier still, he was Director of Administrative Services for the Town of Buckeye and CFO for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. His Yuma ties go back to the early 2000s, when he held both the Director of Finance and Deputy County Administrator titles at Yuma County.

"After a very thorough national search for a new Director of Finance, it became very clear that he was the right choice for the City," Rodriguez said. "I'm pleased to welcome Douglas to the City of Yuma, and know that he'll have an immediate impact on our team and community."

Rodriguez also framed the hire in terms of City Council's recently adopted strategic plan. "Douglas shares our commitment to carefully steward the public's resources, and his experience meshes well with where our City is heading under City Council's new strategic plan," he said. "He's also very excited to be in Yuma, and I know our community will embrace him and his family."

Allen is a certified accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He described the appointment as both a professional milestone and a personal one. "To be welcomed as part of this great team and professional environment is a rare opportunity and a blessing," Allen said. "I look forward to being part of many enhancements to the financial operations focused on customer trust and confidence; especially in financial reporting.
