100+ Women Who Care Los Alamos Dinner to Raise Funds Feb. 12
100+ Women Who Care Los Alamos will host a Feb. 12 dinner where members donate $100 each to select a local nonprofit recipient, a fast way to direct funds to community needs.

100+ Women Who Care Los Alamos will convene a quarterly dinner on Thursday, Feb. 12, to raise pooled donations for a local nonprofit and announce the quarter’s recipient. The group’s model concentrates small, individual contributions into a single meaningful award - each attendee donates $100 or partners with others to contribute a portion of $100 - to support local non-profits without the time-consuming effort normally associated with fundraising.
Organizers say the evening will include presentations from nominated local non-profits and conclude with a vote and announcement of the selected recipient. A specific venue and start time for the Feb. 12 meeting have not been listed publicly; the event is expected to take place at local venues in the Los Alamos or UNM-Los Alamos area. Residents interested in attending should confirm the precise location and any RSVP or membership requirements with the group in advance.
Los Alamos Community Foundation serves as fiscal agent for 100+ Women Who Care Los Alamos, helping manage donations collected at quarterly events. The chapter is also marking a decade of local philanthropy. The organization states, "100+ Women Who Care – Los Alamos expresses its gratitude to TechSource, Inc., for so generously sponsoring this special 10th anniversary event, which includes food prepared by Beef & Leaf. Please plan to join in the celebration, 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7 at Beef & Leaf, 3801 Arkansas Ave. Suite G!" Founders listed for the chapter include Carol A. Clark, Stephanie Garcia Richard, Dr. Marvel Harrison, Debbie Shelton and Kristy Ortega; a photo credit for the founders’ image is given to Joy Freymiller.
Carol A. Clark reflected on the chapter’s decade of work: "Every quarterly giving event we’ve hosted during the last 10 years has filled each of us with joy at seeing the kindness and compassion exhibited by the many women in our community who gather with us to support our beloved non-profits that do so much to help our neighbors in need. We also want to take this opportunity to thank the businesses that sponsor our quarterly giving events and Los Alamos Community Foundation for being our fiscal agent."

The 100+ Women Who Care model is simple and participatory. Other chapters publish a compact agenda that blends social time with brief nonprofit presentations, member voting and a reveal of the quarterly recipient; one chapter’s schedule reads in part, "5:30-6:15 PM — SOCIALIZING" and "6:30 PM — REVIEWING THE NOMINEES AND VOTING; DRUMROLL PLEASE: ANNOUNCEMENT OF QUARTERLY RECIPIENT!"
For Los Alamos residents, the Feb. 12 dinner is a practical opportunity to direct locally controlled funds to community organizations addressing immediate needs. Confirming the venue and any membership or payment arrangements ahead of the meeting will ensure donations are counted and votes are eligible. The chapter expects to continue its quarterly cycle of presentations and awards as part of its 10th-anniversary year of local giving.
