Thirty-seven Business Professionals of America (BPA) members from Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy competed at the Region 3-1 Texas Regional Leadership Conference, and 31 of those students advanced to the Texas State Leadership Conference in Dallas. Rockwall ISD reported the regional meet drew more than 700 students from 15 BPA chapters and was held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Mesquite Vanguard High School.

The district posted that “Thirty one competitors advanced to State in at least one event!” and confirmed the Texas State Leadership Conference will be held in Dallas from March 5th through March 8th. An Instagram post from the program added, “A total of 31 students will represent Rockwall ISD at the Texas State Leadership Conference in Dallas. Way to go, students!”

Rockwall ISD’s results excerpt identifies confirmed individual state qualifiers and placements from the regional competition. Jonathan Baker, RHS, grade 9, placed 1st in C# Programming and is a State Qualifier. Nico Patrick, RHS, grade 12, placed 1st in Advanced Desktop Publishing and is a State Qualifier. Arjun Singh, RHS, grade 10, placed 1st in Extemporaneous Speech and is a State Qualifier.

The scraped page excerpt contains those team headings but does not include placements or team member names alongside them in the portion provided.

Rockwall ISD’s summary situates the GBCCA performance within the statewide BPA pathway: state qualifiers at the Dallas SLC would then be eligible to advance to BPA’s National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN, scheduled May 6-10. With the State Leadership Conference set to begin March 5th, GBCCA’s 31 qualifiers are poised to represent Rockwall ISD in Dallas this week and potentially pursue national competition in May.
