Alabama ONE Credit Union Marks 75th Anniversary at Millbrook Branch Friday
Alabama ONE will celebrate its 75th anniversary at the Millbrook branch Friday, a milestone that underscores the credit union’s local growth and renewed community role.

Alabama ONE Credit Union will mark its 75th anniversary with an all-day celebration at the Millbrook branch Friday, Feb. 6, highlighting a long local presence and the institution’s post-recovery expansion. The event, announced in a Feb. 2 press release and promoted on the credit union’s social channels, celebrates a financial cooperative that began in 1951 as TRW Federal Credit Union.
Alabama ONE presents itself as a substantially larger organization than in prior regulatory filings. The credit union’s corporate profile states it now has more than $1.4 billion in assets, 31 branches statewide and serves more than 97,000 members across roughly 58 of Alabama’s 67 counties through eligibility tied to 23 Alabama Rural Electric Cooperatives. The organization lists a broad suite of consumer, business, agricultural and mortgage products, alongside wealth management and full-service insurance offerings.
That growth follows a period of regulatory intervention. The Alabama Credit Union Administration says it operated Alabama ONE under conservatorship for nearly 18 months before terminating the conservatorship and restoring the credit union to profitability. ACUA’s public statement describes Alabama ONE at the time of conservatorship as a state-chartered, federally insured credit union with 11 branches, more than 61,000 members and nearly $589 million in assets. ACUA Administrator and Chairman Sarah H. Moore credited the credit union’s leadership and staff: “Alabama One’s management team and employees led by William (Bill) Wells, chief executive officer, worked tirelessly to restore sound operations to safeguard Alabama One’s members’ hard-earned money.” Moore added, “The new leadership of Alabama One transformed the credit union into a great place to work and to do business.”
Marketing Manager Dantrel Robinson has described the institution’s recent arc as one of resilience and brand re‑building. Robinson said, “Alabama ONE has been around for about 70 years. And you should know, within that timeframe, there has been a set of setbacks and challenges. One thing that Alabama ONE has done is learn from that, has been very resilient, and we have grown from it.” He emphasized the staff effort behind that growth, noting the credit union’s “team of almost 200 people working together to serve our members.”
For Millbrook and Autauga County residents, the anniversary underlines continuity of local financial services and a broader product set that can support homebuyers, small businesses, farmers and savings goals. ACUA also published the names of volunteer directors and committee members chosen during the conservatorship, listing Tamika Alexander, Franklin Bohannon, Marion Dodson, Julie Smith, Thomas Fanning, Jonathan Walker, Martin Houston, Barry Mixon, Lucy Sellers, Margaret (Loo) Whitfield and Sheriff Ron Abernathy among those serving.
The Millbrook event will be an opportunity for local customers to engage with staff and celebrate the milestone. Alabama ONE’s materials frame the anniversary with the tagline “Proudly Serving Alabama's families and communities for 75 years!” and say the branch will host festivities through the day. The credit union’s post-conservatorship growth and its expanded footprint suggest continued local access to banking services; members and prospective members can visit the Millbrook branch Friday to learn more about offerings and community programs.
