Ariana Grande to step away from spotlight after tour amid health concerns

Ariana Grande will step away from the spotlight once her Eternal Sunshine tour ends on Sept. 1, her representative confirmed, after another round of online speculation about her health and appearance. The rep said Grande performs a very physical show and has been performing “healthily and successfully at a very high level.”

Grande has spent much of the past year pushing back on body commentary that followed her from the start of her career. In a December 2024 interview clip she later reshared, Grande said comments about her body are “really dangerous” and said she has heard “every version of what’s wrong with me” since becoming famous as a teenager. She reposted the clip again on Instagram Story on Nov. 29, 2025, with a “loving reminder” urging people not to criticize or comment on other people’s bodies.

The latest wave of scrutiny gathered after the July 31, 2026 release of her “petal” music video, the title track from her album of the same name. In the clip, Grande plays Pepper, an unhinged aspiring actress, and the video’s gory imagery pushed fresh fan discussion about her appearance. The reaction followed the same pattern that has trailed several of Grande’s public moments, with online observers treating styling, weight and body shape as open terrain for comment.

Grande’s appearance at the Wicked: For Good press tour also helped revive the conversation, including the London premiere on Nov. 10, 2025.
