Berehk Stornbrow, Twin Lance and Tyranid Prime: Rules and Models Reshape Lists
TechRaptor's March 7, 2026 review finds the Twin Lance outshines Berehk Stornbrow and the Tyranid Prime, and the £67 Tau kit promises "insane mobility" on the tabletop.

Berehk and the Tyranid Prime are fine, but the Twin Lance really steals the limelight against the other 2 characters," Adam Potts wrote in TechRaptor's in-depth review published March 7, 2026, placing the new T'au pair at the center of the conversation about how recent character releases will reshape lists. Potts' piece, which he describes as covering miniature impressions and a careful breakdown, used review copies provided by Games Workshop, a disclosure TechRaptor printed alongside its coverage.
Availability and pricing are already part of the calculus for players. Matt Crowther's Sprues & Brews noted that "All these models are up for pre order today and are released Saturday 21st March," and that "This kit clocks in at £67 and contains each of the two thins and their gun drones." Sprues & Brews also filmed a full unboxing and painted the kits to "see what they look like in the flesh," and similarly acknowledged Games Workshop for providing early review copies. Because TechRaptor's review is dated March 7, 2026, the Sprues & Brews Saturday 21st March line is reasonably reconciled to March 21, 2026 for release timing.
The Twin Lance dominates both the sculpt and the rules conversation. Potts wrote that "The Twin Lance miniatures look incredible, sporting cool poses that suit the fact that they're going to always be in the thick of the action on the tabletop," and that "Their gun drones also have ribbons that match those the Twin Lance wear, giving their drones a unique look against others in your force." On gameplay, TechRaptor flagged the pair's mechanics as particularly consequential, calling out "insane mobility and ranged weapons in melee rules" and noting the models "showcasing the new Warmaker Battlesuits, which look awesome." The review further positioned the figures narratively, saying the Twin Lance "progresses the Tau Empire narrative, with the pair taking the mantle from the now renegade Commander Farsight." Community responses reflected those angles: a Bolter & Chainsword poster wrote, "I like the implication in the Twin Lance models that the 2 surviving members each took parts of the killed members suit, some nice storytelling," while Castellan Wulfrik warned about faction compatibility, "The Tau look great but unfortunately I've always been an Enclaves guy, I doubt you can take them alongside Farsight." Lathe Biosas added a practical note for painters, "The tactical fire is going to be a pain to paint decently."
Berehk Stornbrow, the Leagues of Votann character included in both reviews, drew less fanfare. Potts grouped Berehk with the Tyranid Prime as "fine" compared to the Twin Lance, and Sprues & Brews explicitly said they would "be taking a look at the rules if you want to see what exactly it is that The Twin Lance does in game, or if Berehk adds any punch to your army." Sprues & Brews also positioned these releases "alongside the individual releases from the Maelstrom book," suggesting Games Workshop is spacing character drops across the end of edition narrative.
The Tyranid Prime with Lash Whip likewise registered as middling in TechRaptor's verdict. Community posts were sharper: one forum commenter called the "poorly named\ Tyranid Prime" "too thin for my liking" and said, "I dislike the pose, too. I’m hoping the kit comes with a sword and gun option... \Should be called Tyranid Warrior Alphas." Nephaston hoped these were the start of broader Prime-style releases, "Two so far, thirteen to go," and TheMawr suggested the pattern of character drops could mirror past, wider miniature waves.
Potts' bottom line ties the release cycle to list-building: "The Twin Lance really steals the limelight," and with a £67 kit, visible ribboned drones, Warmaker Battlesuits on show, and a rules package that includes "insane mobility," competitive and narrative lists alike face tangible choices. Missing from the public fragments are full datasheets and precise kit contents for Berehk and the Tyranid Prime, so confirming official GW product pages and full rules remains the next step to map exactly how these models will shift army lists.
