Boston police investigate dead body found at Pressley family property

Boston police found a dead body near a Mattapan home owned by Conan Harris, the husband of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, after a call to 25 Malta St. came in at 1:52 p.m. Saturday.

Officer James Moccia, the police department spokesperson, said officers arrived shortly after the call and found the body in the area of the home. Sgt. Det. John Boyle later described the case as a "death investigation." Boston homicide detectives were assigned to the scene.

Authorities have not identified the deceased and have not said whether they suspect foul play. The home sits in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood, according to city records, and the property connection drew immediate public attention because it links the scene to a sitting member of Congress through her spouse, not because any allegation has been made against Pressley or Harris.

Harris said the family was safe as the investigation continued. The couple had been photographed together as recently as Sept. 2, 2024, at a labor protest at Boston Park Plaza Hotel, underscoring Harris's public profile in Boston civic and labor circles. Harris has also been publicly associated with re-entry reform efforts and a separate dispute over a Springfield courthouse lease.

Boston police have not released further details about how the person died or what led officers to the property on Malta Street. The investigation remained active as detectives worked to identify the body and determine what happened inside one of Mattapan's residential blocks.
