Bradley Michael Baker, 55, of Madison, was identified March 4 after officers found him deceased inside a pickup truck backed into a parking space near the Home Depot at 205 Colony Way, Madison, the Madison Police Department said. Officers initially responded about 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 27 to reports of a possibly deceased person in a vehicle in the store’s parking lot.
Lt. Micah Taylor of the Madison Police Department said investigators have launched a death investigation and that the cause of death remains under review pending toxicology and autopsy results. “At this time, there is no reason to believe that there is any foul play involved,” Taylor said.
Madison police said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the Madison County Coroner’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office are assisting MPD with the inquiry. Investigators photographed and processed the scene at the Home Depot parking area after officers discovered the man inside the truck, and authorities have been coordinating evidence handling with regional partners.
“At the time of this release,” Taylor said Friday. “The matter still remains under investigation and the vehicle and deceased have been moved to the State of Mississippi Crime Lab for further investigation.” The transfer to the State of Mississippi Crime Lab is the next step while coroners and forensic teams await laboratory toxicology results and the formal autopsy.

The Home Depot location is listed as 205 Colony Way in Madison; the shopping center is also locally referenced as Colony Crossing or Colony Way. Police did not release the truck’s make, model, registration or any information about next of kin, and no additional personal background on Baker has been provided.
Madison Police reiterated that the investigation is active and ongoing as forensic testing continues. Officials have not announced a timeline for autopsy or toxicology results, and MPD said it will update the public when more information becomes available.
