Brenda K. "Moody" Grisham, 77, of Morris Chapel died Feb. 5 at Adamsville Health & Rehab; funeral services were scheduled at Reed's Chapel in Scotts Hill, affecting friends and family across the county.

Brenda K. "Moody" Grisham, 77, of Morris Chapel, Tenn., died Thursday, Feb. 5, at Adamsville Health & Rehab, leaving a wide circle of family and neighbors who knew her from Scotts Hill to Crump. The obituary posted by Reed’s Chapel Scotts Hill described a life rooted in local schools, workplaces and community markets.
Born July 10, 1948, in Scotts Hill to the late Lonzie and Liness Bingham Moody, Grisham graduated from Scotts Hill High School and built a working life that reflected Decatur County’s small-town economy. She was a retired garment factory worker who also worked in convenience stores and provided private sitting for elderly residents and babysitting services. Those jobs tied her to the informal labor networks that support many families here and to the county’s retail and service rhythms.
Neighbors will remember Grisham for her presence at local auctions, yard sales and the Crump flea market. As the obituary put it, "Brenda enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales and setting up at the flea market in Crump." Her market stalls were part of Decatur County’s micro-economy — a place where household goods, small-scale entrepreneurship and neighbor-to-neighbor commerce meet.
Grisham married Jimmy Grisham on Dec. 14, 1968; he preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Amanda (Jordan) Harris and son Jimmy Lynn Grisham, both of Morris Chapel; sister Loretta (Lowell) Mooney and brothers Dale (Regina) Moody and James Moody of Scotts Hill; grandchildren Stevey (Crystal) Grisham of Savannah, Cheyanne (Dustin) Martin of Adamsville, and Travis, Theo, Peyton and Gracelynn Harris of Morris Chapel; and by "bonus children" Tim, Phyllis and Randy (Darlene) and many bonus grandchildren.
A funeral service was scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Reed’s Chapel in Scotts Hill with Claude Grisham officiating, with burial to follow at Lebanon Cemetery near Sardis. Visitation was set for Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 12 p.m. until the service at Reed’s Chapel, located at 11275 Sardis-Scotts Hill Rd., Scotts Hill, TN 38374. The funeral home's online obituary page displayed "0 Entries — Be the first to post a memory or condolences" and offers visitors the option to send flowers, make a donation or add memories.
For Decatur County readers, Grisham’s life traces familiar threads: school ties to Scotts Hill High, decades of work in modest local industries, and community trade at flea markets and auctions. Those patterns reflect both the social fabric and the local economy that sustain many families here. Friends and family may leave remembrances on the funeral home's obituary page or contact Reed’s Chapel for further details.
