Copperas Cove ISD opens transfers, emphasizes CTE and literacy
Copperas Cove ISD opened out-of-district transfer applications Jan. 13, offering strong CTE and early literacy programs. Families outside the district can apply online at www.CCISD.com/Transfers.

Copperas Cove ISD began accepting new out-of-district transfer applications on Jan. 13, signaling expanded enrollment options for families across Coryell County and neighboring communities. Officials say the district’s combination of academic performance, career and technical education, and early literacy initiatives makes it an attractive option for parents weighing school choice.
The district directs prospective families to apply at ccisd.com/Transfers. Parents of current out-of-district transfer students in CCISD were told they will receive an email Monday with more information on registering their student for the 2026-27 school year.
“We know parents are always looking to do what they feel is best for their students,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “We are confident that our district can provide every student with a foundation for a great life after high school. We have award-winning extra-curricular programs to interest almost any child, and we look forward to welcoming more people into our Bulldawg family.”
District leaders highlight measurable strengths: Copperas Cove is described as one of the highest-performing districts academically in central Texas, with 99 percent of 2025 graduates designated College, Career & Military-Ready under Texas Education Agency accountability guidelines. The district offers more than 30 industry certifications across 12 Career & Technical Education areas and begins CTE tracks as early as junior high. Officials also point to an innovative early literacy program intended to build long-term reading and learning outcomes.
Beyond academics, increased transfer activity has public health and equity implications for Coryell County. Stable school placement and access to school-based services affect children’s mental health, nutrition, and developmental supports. Families who cannot secure reliable transportation, who need special education services, or who face economic barriers may find transfers less accessible, potentially concentrating advantages for households with greater resources. Local leaders and school officials will need to monitor enrollment shifts to ensure equitable allocation of staff, counseling, special education, and health services across the district.
For parents considering a move, the application page provides steps and district program details. As transfers are processed, Copperas Cove ISD’s choices will shape local school demographics, resource priorities, and community ties. Watch for the district email to current out-of-district families and visit the district website for official application deadlines and program information.
