Decatur County Reveals 2025 to 2026 Events Calendar: Fair, Dance, Golf, Christmas
Decatur County released its 2025-26 events calendar with the county fair, a February charity dance, a longtime golf fundraiser, and a community Christmas open house.

Decatur County officials have posted a compact but active calendar of community events that will shape the local civic and social season through early 2026. The schedule highlights signature fundraisers, seasonal retail promotions, and ongoing public programs that matter for families, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
Leading the calendar is a county charity dance slated for February 2026. "The Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse presents Dancing with the Decatur County Stars." Local couples will compete for a trophy and to raise funds for the Carl Perkins Center. "The couples hold fundraisers for weeks beforehand which adds to the excitement of the competition." The event offers a visible fundraising platform for the center and brings community leaders and small donors together at a time when nonprofit revenue planning for the year is critical.
The county fair returned in August and drew crowds across the county. The August 17-23, 2025 fair featured a carnival, livestock shows, pageants for all ages, exhibits, music, entertainment, food and family activities. Organizers billed it as "the fair you remember from your childhood," a positioning that aims at both nostalgia and multigenerational attendance. The fair’s livestock and pageant schedules remain a key driver of summer engagement for 4-H and FFA families and for local vendors who rely on fair weeks for a sizeable share of annual revenue.
Summer fundraising and civic engagement also included the Tennessee River Golf Club event, held the first weekend in August 2025. Organizers promoted the tournament as "going strong for over 20 years," with "lots of prizes and a Golf Ball Drop." The tournament connects the Decatur County Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and civic groups and has long served as a predictable fundraiser and sponsorship vehicle for year-round programming.
Retail and holiday programming closed the 2025 season. The county’s Christmas Open House was held November 2, 2025, described as "the first Sunday in November" and "featuring specials, giveaways, and tons of Christmas Spirit at our local stores." Organizers pitched the event as "a great way to get your Christmas started and get a jumpstart on your gift buying," an initiative that supports downtown merchants and independent retailers during the critical holiday sales window.

County calendars for February 2026 show a packed slate of public-facing programs and municipal milestones, including HealthConnect FreshStart sessions and Diabetes Education classes, several ribbon cuttings on February 13 for the Decatur County Community Building, Hagerty Dental Studio and Copper Coyote, a public CPR class on February 23, and an American Red Cross blood drive on February 26. Local leadership programming includes a "LEADERS & LAGERS x Mayor Joshua Marsh" event on February 17, signaling ongoing outreach between elected officials and civic groups.
Readers should note that several large events using the "Decatur" name in regional listings—Rock the South, Carnegie Carnival, Spirit of America Festival and the Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Classic—are organized in the City of Decatur in neighboring jurisdictions and are not part of Decatur County’s official calendar.
For residents, the calendar frames fundraising cycles, volunteer opportunities, retail planning and family activities through 2026. Confirm event times, venues, and ticketing with the Carl Perkins Center and the Decatur County Chamber of Commerce as plans firm up, and watch for additional entries and ribbon-cutting announcements as local businesses and nonprofits finalize dates.
