Denver woman arrested after concealing over $7,000 in Highlands Ranch Target suitcase
Deputies arrested a Denver woman after she was seen concealing merchandise in a suitcase at the Highlands Ranch Target; investigators say items taken across multiple incidents totaled more than $7,000.

“Deputies were recently dispatched to a theft in progress at Target in Highlands Ranch after reports of a shoplifter concealing merchandise,” the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office wrote on X after announcing the arrest on Feb. 26, 2026. The post identified the location only as the Target in Highlands Ranch and said deputies took a woman into custody after the incident.
Local reporting by KDVR says deputies were staged outside the store when the woman exited, and investigators noted that “she walked past all the points of purchase, investigators reported.” Deputies arrested the woman and recovered merchandise concealed in a suitcase; the on-scene recovery is cited as part of the basis for the arrest.
Douglas County investigators and Target Asset Protection determined the woman had stolen from the same Highlands Ranch location on multiple occasions, with prior incidents dating back to December 2025, KDVR and republished reports state. Across those multiple occasions, investigators say the cumulative value of items taken exceeded $7,000, a figure cited by the sheriff’s office post and local coverage.
According to the reports, the suspect is identified only as a resident of Denver; no name, age, or booking photo has been released. Deputies also found a stolen credit card in her possession during the arrest, and the woman had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for another agency, investigators said. Sources do not list the issuing agency for the warrant or provide details on the alleged credit card theft.

The sheriff’s post and local coverage do not include a street address for the Target involved. Store listings provided to reporters place the Douglas County Target on or near E. County Line Road in Highlands Ranch, but KDVR and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office referred to the location simply as the Target in Highlands Ranch. Those discrepancies remain unresolved in the initial public statements.
As of the Feb. 26 announcement, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and KDVR have not released formal charging documents, booking details, bond amounts, or court dates tied to the arrest. Sources note the $7,000-plus total represents cumulative loss-prevention estimates across multiple incidents, and prosecutors or the sheriff’s office have not stated which agency will file charges or whether any felony counts will be pursued.
