"The San Juan County Sheriff's Office is currently responding to a diesel truck crash and fire near Waterflow, NM," deputies told KOAT Action 7 News and Weather. According to deputies, "highway 64 at mile marker 33 (near Circle W Pawn) west of Waterflow, NM is shut down in both directions after a semi hauling diesel crashed and caught fire."
Officials advised motorists to avoid the area while emergency crews work. "The highway will be closed for at least two hours and drivers need to seek alternate routes," the advisory stated, a warning emphasized in the KOAT update to commuters and freight operators using the US 64 corridor.
